In the Lake Garda region, you can find some of the most beautiful and most exclusive golf courses in the whole of Northern Italy
Guests of the Eden Reserve Hotel & Villas, located above the beautiful town of Gardone Riviera on the shores of Lake Garda, are rightly delighted by the building’s architecture, which bears the different signature of international star architects such as Matteo Thun, Marc Mark of ATP Sphere, David Chipperfield and Richard Meier. The 78,000-square-metre park landscape of the Eden Reserve above Lake Garda, for which the renowned Swiss garden architect Enzo Enea is responsible, is also a Mediterranean dream in itself. The five-star boutique hotel, the Landmark Apartments and exclusive private villas blend very harmoniously into this “Garden of Eden”.
Gardagolf: The Country Golf Club that combines sport and landscape
For golfers amongst the Eden guests would not want to miss the comfort and beauty of the local landscape when playing at Gardagolf. The Gardagolf Country Club is a pure experience, situated in a dreamlike location between the Rocca di Manerba, the Castello di Soiano and the hills of the Valtenesi, just a few kilometres from Gardone Riviera.
The landscape is characterised by olive trees and cypresses, holm oaks and pines. The 110-hectare ground features a combination of Mediterranean flair alongside the British art of garden and park, designed by leading English landscape architects. A “red course” runs through this wonderful park alongside old trees, fragrant flowers and many different water areas. The 27-hole golf course is considered a real challenge for all golfers, no matter their level.
The championship course, white and red courses combined, is one of the longest courses in the world when played from the tournament. Garda Golf has also hosted the Italian Open twice.
Shuttle service for golfers – convenient access to golf courses
For golfers at the Eden Reserve, a free shuttle service is available, allowing them to comfortably reach another highlight of golf in the region: The two courses of the Arzaga Golf Club. Located close to Padenghe sul Garda on the shores of Lake Garda, they were designed by Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, two American golf legends.
The green hills of the terrain and the two courses – 18 and 9 holes respectively – swing widely through the landscape and are reminiscent of the famous Scottish “links”. This “links land” has proven its resilience with frugal vegetation and special robust grasses, even before fertilisers and pesticides were used on most courses. Golf courses are now often ecological champions because they reduce soil erosion to a few percent with their turf and vegetation, bind tens of tons of dust annually and produce oxygen. These courses offer a great way to indulge your passion for golf in some of the most wonderful landscapes in the world, allowing you to feel complete harmony and at peace with nature.
Golf sports on the western and southern shores of Lake Garda
On Lake Garda’s western and southern shores, there are a dozen good to excellent golf courses, many of which have their own special history. This includes the 18-hole Bogliaco course, which was built in a picturesque hollow about 100 meters above Lake Garda. As the third oldest golf course in Italy, it was created by the Beretta family as a short but very demanding 9-hole course to amuse Lake Garda tourists.
Mussolini converted the course into a landing strip for planes, after which the American GIs used it as a baseball field. In the 1950s, it became a golf course again, now with a beautiful 18 holes. The views from here reach far over the lake, with a particularly famous hole being the tee shot on the 5th hole. Considered the signature hole of the course, it is a beautiful par 3, with a magnificent view of Lake Garda and the eastern shore. The very well maintained fairways are not too long but must be played with great precision. For guests of the Eden Resort, the beautiful course in the neighbouring village of Toscolano Maderno offers an additional option that it is only a few miles away.
Of course, the best golf courses on Lake Garda also offer excellent practice facilities. The region of Lake Garda has to be held up for sporting and scenic superlatives in all kinds of sports, activities and undertakings. For golfers, no matter whether they are beginners, midfield players or champions, the greens and fairways at the lake provide a fantastic experience. To top it all off, the view of the Mediterranean dream landscape comes free of charge, making it a small paradise for golfers.
